It is my understanding the SOCOM has been very unhappy with the production Mk 21 PSR that Remington delivered. That is why they have already issued a solicitation for its replacement: the "Advanced Sniper Rifle."
Go to the USASpending website, and search for Remington's PSR contract award: H9222213D0003. In a modification dated August 2015, SOCOM deleted $4,886,475 from Delivery Order 0005. That delivery order was originally for "PSR Production Systems" and worth $5,061,848 before the rollback. The only large delivery orders that have survived concentrated primarily upon ammunition. Also note that the contract has gone quiet since November 2015, which is very strange since the base contract duration was supposed to be 10 years.

Special Operations Command is exploring a new caliber for its semi-automatic sniper rifle needs and upgrading one of its bolt-action sniper rifle systems.
Maj. Aron Hauquitz told Military Times Tuesday that SOCOM is in the preliminary stages of exploring a sniper rifle chambered in the 6.5 mm caliber. The two commercially available rounds being evaluated are the .260 Remington and the 6.5 mm Creedmoor.

Meanwhile, the changes SOCOM is seeking for its bolt-action sniper rifle became public earlier this month with a "sources sought" notice. The rifle's development also involves Marine snipers.
