I guess its an early flash-hider, Enfield jungle-carbine style. Hows the flash hider attached to the rifle, looks like it uses the bayonet lug?

Yes. The M1C and D have a cone flash hider to protect the shooter's eyes, a left side mounted scope (parallax can be an issue) and a leather cheek rest. The guns have the scope mount, and were accurized. They are closer to what we would call a designated marksman's rifle than an actual sniper rifle.
